Hi all,
I'm Antoine. I'm a French guy who studied electronics a long time ago. I switched to the binary world and I'm now software engineer with almost eight years of experiance. I had the occasion to work in the world of embedded software, in relation with some hardware-electonics-guy, this combined with the larger and larger amount of enhousiast project I see on the net pushed me to get back into electronics.
In my quest for comprehensive electonics information I found on this marvelous video blog. It's full on great information and good knowledge and all explained clearly. So keep on your exellent work, thank you very much for the class.

Hello my name is Pawel. I'm a high school student trying to learn a lot of electronics but lacking the time to do it. I've been doing electronics since I was 12 (not that seriously back then). I've been playing around with basic stamp, Avr, and xilinix spartan. I also like mechanical design and machining which I learned thanks to a very kind teacher during non-mandatory technology classes. I guess I would learn more if took things one step at a time and not just learning the interesting bits ;D

Hello all,

Santosh (Santy) from Dallas, TX. A programmer by trade. No formal training in electronics. I experiment with micros and try to learn things by blowing things up :-).
Awesome blog.

BTW, used to live in Sydney. Miss the nice looking ladies and coffee.

Here I am, five posts in and I only just now saw this thread.

My name's Darren, from Port Huron, Michigan, USA, and I'm a third-year physics undergrad, aiming to be a professional entertainer. I'm an on-and-off electronics hobbyist for many years, but have recently gotten more serious with it, especially with the recent surge of the Maker's movement, thanks in large part to Make Magazine. But my real dream is to become a comedian/musician/entertainer famous enough to appear on my favorite British and Australian panel shows.  ;D Personally, I think wanting to be famous for anything is a serious mental defect, and I should consider getting treatment.

Music is my big thing, so my future plans for projects include modifying one of these old reel-to-reel tape decks for keyboard-based motor speed control, some analog synth stuff, and whatever other interesting sound making stuff. I also want a set up for scientific data collection, so I've been getting more and more into digital electronics lately.

So, hello, and thanks for the welcome.

Hi everybody, my name is Janne and I am 34 years old.

I am working as an electronics design engineer in one medium sized design house here in Finland. I have worked on almost every field of electronics (but excluding RF and microwave), but I find special interest on high-speed digital, signal integrity and EMC fields. I also like to write some utilities to make tedious jobs easier, like SQL-database-based parts management in my work, which was gratefully accepted by my colleagues.

My personal interests are digital signal processing in audio, digital measurement and control algorithms, motion control, FPGA-based things and generally those applications which nobody has not yet tried :)

Here are couple things to show you which are built by me, SPDIF-DAC + headphone amplifier (software under debug in that picture), 8-channel volume control (remote controllable via IR remote or galvanically isolated USB), Tripath(RIP) TA0104 based amplifier and electric consumption logger (logs using the flashing led in EE meter front panel) to name a few. And I have created a nice (at least I think so) resistor optimizer for finding out optimal feedback resistors for adjustable regulators or opamp feedback network.

I have also contributed the math code in WinISD pro (some of you may know this software for designing subwoofers or low-frequency driver enclosures).

Regards,
Janne

Hello, i'm Erik from the Netherlands. I'm practising electronics at a hobby base and I like programming pic microcontrollers. Because my knowledge only came from what i tought myself and I felt that even tough I could do some microcontroller programming my knowledge of basic electronics is pretty bad so I recently  decided to start reading the "art of electronics" at the advise of David in one if his blogs and since then i'm gathering a nice amount of information out of it.

I can't remember how i found your blog but i like it and sometimes the blogs are pretty funny too. Keep up the good work!

Hi Everybody!

My name's Brett, and I'm a currently employed Electronic Design Engineer in the USA, working at the same company for the last 14 years.  I design DC motor controllers for a wide ranging market area and medical equipment.  I've always been a tinkerer, and I'm just now really starting to put my "home projects" back in the works.  It's been a few good years since I've done much at home since I have a 4 year old son that keeps my wife and I very busy.  My buddy and I are trying to build up some cool projects with the Arduino, which makes development for someone with not a lot of time, a piece of cake.  Granted it's not super tiny, but the platform for prototyping purposes rocks.  I use it around the lab at work as well when I need a quick solution for some circuit manipulation and DAQ type stuff.  I would love to put together some videos like Dave has done... but first I'll need to fix up my workbench.  Right now it's an absolute mess.  Last night I had to work on the kitchen table.  Anyhoo... see you around the forum.

greetings mighty craftsmen.

John, from Latvia 20 yo. My lab currently consists of pc, table lamp, basic tools ( no multimeter ) soldering iron and vast amounts of various electronic gadgets - parts (95 % like 20 to 30 yo (made in soviet Russia ), I actually have tubes; raw material - pcboards, wires, screws, metal sheets, organic glass, etc ;boards from various electronic equipment - again 85 % 20 yo, and electronic equipment ( only thing that is not ancient - PSX, CRT TV, laptop, mobile phone). only if i could do something with these resources.

currently investigating how AC motor is working

Hey all,

I'm Mike, a 22 year old EE student from Connecticut. Been tinkering with electronics all my life but only recently getting serious about it.
Finished my associates at a community college a little over a year ago and still trying to figure out what to do about getting a bachelors. I Don't know anybody that does electronics and that's getting annoying so I need get into some forums maybe a chat room. Been lurking here because of the awesome blog so I figure it's as good a place as any to start.

Currently honing my microcontroller programming skills (PICs), stocking up on components, and stripping a decades worth of salvaged PC boards to save some space. >.<

Hey Folks,

I'm Daniel. I'm 34 years old, nothing to do with EE, just an avid hobbyist though I might actually think about changing that. I've always been fascinated by the shadowy world of electronics, circuits, and micros. I've finally decided to actually do something about it!

Thanks for having me!

Daniel

Greetings!

I'm Sean and I live in the suburbs of Omaha, in the center of the US. I've always loved science in (almost) all it's forms, and I'm recently returning to discrete electronics. I have an abundance of time, and a lack of money, so I do almost everything with tinkered and scavenged components. I kept all the books from the kits of my childhood, and I was amazed to see that I had one of the same ones Dave featured on his blog! Mine were purchased in the mid '80s, and at the time my family lived in England, just about the other side of the world.

I am a student at Oklahoma State University in the USA.  I played with my older brothers radio shack xxx in one kits when I was very young, maybe eight years?  I was pretty fascinated by it but my father wouldn't give me much chance to play with the parts on my own so it wore off.  I picked up again when I was 16 and wanted a vacuum tube guitar amp, an expensive product.  I did my research and collected garbage parts for under $100 and built it.  I've been struggling and in/out of college for the past six years for economic reasons, studying Electrical/Computer Engineering for a couple of years and then changing to Instrumentation at another OSU campus with better economic prospects.  I'll earn that degree in a few months, and one in Nano-Scientific Instrumentation, I already have an associates degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology.

My degree programs are broad in scope, I chose them because it fits my lifestyle and hobbies, which are also broad in scope.  My areas of experience/specialty/interest are PLCs, FPGAs, microcontrollers, vacuum tube electronics, hydraulics&pneumatics, motor control, fluids, industrial automation, optimization/efficiency, alternative energies, crude oil production and especially electronic sensing of all kinds.  I enjoy reading immensely, and spend most of my time doing that.  When I can tear myself away from learning on the internet I love to rock climb, tinker and hack electronics, play guitar, work cattle, cook and meet interesting people.  I try to live by the following quote, which I believe is very eloquent:

Quote
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

-Robert A. Heinlein

This isn't a resume, but I am looking for a job in Los Angeles, starting in May, FYI.  ;D

G'day all. I'm Chris from Melbourne, Australia, about to enter my second year of an electronics engineering and physics double degree at RMIT. I've been watching the blog since about episode 8 or 9 but I'm generally a bit of a lurker so never got involved in it's forum or discussion. Dad got me started in electronics after seeing I had an interest in pulling stuff apart with a Dick Smith 20 in 1 kit a few years ago.
Love the blog, particularly the the two blogs on job interview tips, as well as the several guides to things like caps, batteries and solar cells.
