LEMO: gold connector pins for sale anywhere?
« on: July 24, 2018, 09:02:28 pm »
Hi on one of my visits at an electronics "fleamarket" I came across some NOS  boxes of nice Lemo connectors.
The price was very interesting but I noticed that the contacts were missing. These are the golden pins that you solder the wires to. I postponed the purchase to see if I could buy these somewhere.
I searched everywhere but can not find these pins for sale.
Did anyone of you came across these somewhere for sale?
Thanks.

Mouser in the US is the distributor for Lemo.  They may not have the contacts available as a separate part #, usually the contacts come with the connector.

Circular connectors normally have either separately installable crimp contacts, or factory installed solder contacts. (The latter may be available as hermetically sealed assemblies.)
Perusing the Lemo catalog, I note that they seem to offer "crimp contacts with reduced solder cups" which is strange and contradictory (see page 130).

I'll also note that designing with circular connectors involves many special accessories and tools and may not be worth it just for hobby use.

Yes, as rx8pilot will tell you, the tiny multipin lemos are some of the most challenging soldering jobs there are.

I have done a few for various bits of equipment, and it's not something fun at all.
