I just had the good fortune to find The Man Who saved the World, a film from just a few years ago, about Stanislav Petrov on YouTube.

Anyway, we who were alive in 1983 probably owe our lives to him.
Those who were born later probably wouldn't be alive too. Curious what you all think.
I think the story must have been a difficult one to tell.. and they handled it very well. Using sort of a recursive loop or a story within a story to explore the soldier's memories. It was tragic how the failings of the bureaucracy led to him being criticized by his superiors to some extent for not writing the incident up properly, according to their rules. He was too busy and did not have three hands..
Recently, Ive really had a strong feeling the world is shrinking very rapidly, with all of our lives kind of tied up in one anothers and our being linked in inexplicable ways. This film shows how true that is.
