Non-electronics solder repair, Pace + Artwork
« on: April 09, 2022, 05:59:42 pm »
I had a good friend who was a world class wood carver.  He competed and won several awards and I am lucky enough to have a few of his works.   Early branches were all copper and brass.  This one is a combination of brass tubes and carved leaves.   Sadly I noticed that the twig that the baltimore oriole was mounted to had broke.  It appears to have been a cold joint.   There's no easy fix so I cleaned up the surfaces, inserted the largest tip I had for my Pace iron and soldered it back together.   The paint is oil and I blended five colors to get something close.   It has a bit of a shine until it dries.

I would much rather solder 0402s...
