Title: Non stocked Digikey parts
Post by: blueskull on May 16, 2015, 10:51:37 pm
Hi, all,

What is this status? It says it is has both immediately shippable stock and factory stock, but why it also stats that it is not in stock? Many Digikey parts have this kind of stock information.

Can I purchase these parts? The help message doesn't explain this clearly, at least to me.

Thanks,
Bo

I'm not seeing that, I think it's just a glitch. They had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago - https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/digikey-gone-mad/ (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/digikey-gone-mad/)

According to findchips Rochester Electronics has Reel & Tape in single quantities for way less and they have  78,000 in stock.

$0.28 each for quantities under 25, I did never purchased from them though.

Verical has the cheapest price but minimum quantity is 3000 :)

As for the non-stock it seems it means they are not ready to ship on small quantities but still available. The T&R for that part at Digikey has the non-stock set to 3000 which is the minimum order.

I just checked and I still see it, having said that I see no conflict here. Maybe it used to be stocked, but they recently decided to make it a non-stock item --so they still have stock from before for immediate dispatch, but when that lot runs out they won't restock the warehouse and it'll become a truly non-stock item. Maybe some muppet at digikey just accidentally ordered a bunch, so they're in the warehouse but they're not committing to making it a stock item long-term.

They say they have 2525 available for immediate dispatch, but it's not returnable (or whatever the normal restrictions are for non-stock items). There's just not a conflict here.
