I had to join a very small co Ax cable today, and was looking for some way to join the outer braid, I was considering wrapping it with the solder wick when on looking closer at it I found that it was a tubular braid that could be opened up and slipped over the co ax and then soldered on.

I have used it as well to fill in the space in a PL259 connector when I did not have a reducer to fit the cable.
Also useful as a connector to join shields together.

interesting, using it a la chinese finger prison thingie.
I used to use solder wick to reinforce cracks in plastic I melted back together with a soldering iron and hot glue, melting the solder wick into the back of the plastic as stitches before hotgluing.
