Oh what bullshit
« on: February 17, 2014, 01:28:26 am »
Well, it seems that people will pay for ghost hunting, and ghost hunting is a very well paying profession, well paying enough to be able to purchase a thermal camera. What a load of bullshit

Next up, ghost hunting oscilloscopes!
I'm not saying we should kill all stupid people. I'm just saying that we should remove all product safety labels and let natural selection do its work.

I don't believe the guy is a ghost hunter, the description looks more like a joke or funny attention search.

I'm  embarrassed to say  I personally   have talked to such a person  as a   "paranormal research  scientist"

He  seems  to have lived somewhere around  Goldendale,  WA   and we called  him  "Shaky Dave"    His name is  / was  (not sure he's  still with the actual living)  Farnsworth,  and he claims  to be related to  THE  Farnsworth

He  used to  buy old HP  optical  (fiber)  analyzers  and  uh..........."convert" them  to   "ghost  detectors"  ---Actually had them for sale on  th' Bay

He is as  full of  it  as you  can  imagine.

One  night  I kicked him  (as in ran him off)   of our group  on 160M   --   I told him  he could stay if he  would quit  lying

"What makes you think  I'm lying?"

"Your  lips are moving."

Here  is the   "company"  he  had been involved with

http://www.magne-tronix.com/id10.html

http://www.magne-tronix.com/id9.html

This,  allegedly,  is  some sort  of  "etherial image"    "detected"  by  the   "equipment"

I  must say  that  I'm  really embarrassed    to be forced to admit  even knowing  ABOUT  this  rain  maker and his wagon

There was a report on a local news station about ghost hunters. Everyone took it really seriously. They came across a chalkboard in a haunted bar, and it said 'the cake is a lie'. The guy gave it some BS meaning and used it as proof of ghosts.

I, of course, was laughing my ass off at this point.  :-DD

I used to believe in ghosts as well until I found out my mother threw my stuff (which seemed useless to her) away.

Ghosts are not real... although Kevin Rudd made a comeback and haunted an entire nation.

Also not true palm reading, fortune telling, astrology, talking to the dead, or water divining. Why is it fortune tellers or astrologists don't win the lottery more often than other people? Why is it we never hear of ESP and biorhythms any more? Water diviners are just fools. I don't think you will find many electronics engineers and technicians who believe this rot.

Those TV conmen who "talk to the dead" are just plain evil and wicked, playing with the emotions of the bereaved to make money.

Doris Stokes was a con woman. James Randi was right.
And what did happen to Kevin Arnett?

In Hungary, in the 1990s there was an extremely profitable enterprise known as the Witches' Association.

It was comprised of neopagan rockers, drunkards and metalheads, and old cat ladies who like to do fortune telling as a hobby. Their business plan was really simple. They'd go into a small village, and find the richest, most garishly decorated house - usually owned by a local gypsy crime lord or something similar.

They'd ring the doorbell, and tell the people living there that they are from the Witches' Association, and driving by they saw a huge, dark curse above the house. But, of course, being the benevolent crowd they are, they are willing to remove it right there and then, for a mere million Forints (approx. $5000).

Usually, they got their money. And they didn't even have thermal cameras.

on similar lines:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281266782229

and yes, it is an AM/FM radio, it's been 'modded' so it continually seeks through the bands, apparently the spirits manipulate the airwaves and communicate to the user while it's seeking

just to clarify, i dont believe in ghosts, spirits (other then Jack Daniels!), paranormal activity etc or other imaginary friends for that matter

He says "very very rare" LOL!

I once went to a live dinner cabaret show with my wife. Sitting at our table was a businessman who ran a horoscope phone service. He admitted to me it the horoscopes were rubbish and the phone service was designed simply to make money out of regular callers at $5 per minute. He justified it by saying he was providing a service to people with emotional problems.

I need to get in on this game. Farming stupidity seems to be incredibly lucrative - ghost detectors, audiophool equipment, homoeopathic medicine etc.
I concur. Speaker cables made by nude virgins in utopia land for $20k anyone?

You need to be REAL careful with those homeopathic drugs, though.

The basic principle there is that the more highly diluted the stuff is, the more powerful it becomes. So if you screw up and forget to take your pill, you will die of a massive overdose.... :wtf:
