old br ln series of trains

just been looking at a yt vid about the uk early electric locomotives,3000hp runing on 25kv ac from overhead lines,rectified to dc using mercury arc rectifiers,just wondered if anyonyone has pics of them in operation?,would be seriously scary to be near i imagine.

was talking about the rectifiers not the loco.

Scary how? No more scary than any other HV system other than they emit really pretty light (that has some spicy UV) and have a little spark dancing around at the bottom. If you're thinking they make some sort of loud sci-fi zapping noise or something, absolutely not, they are pretty quiet except for a bit of hum/buzz and a fan.
