Old Panasonic Logo
« on: January 20, 2021, 03:01:52 pm »
Twenty-something years ago, I took apart a Sanyo-branded VCR. Its PCBs had a pretty logo silkscreened which looked like rays made out of dots coming from a circle, and had an middle point, offset from the center, somewhat resembling the current Agilent logo. Has anyone encountered this logo and can share a photo of it?

Thanks!

Panasonic didn’t buy Sanyo until 2009. So whose old logo are you after, Sanyo or Panasonic? And what’s stopped you from googling old Sanyo logos? And what about the old logo shown right on the Wikipedia page for Sanyo? Is that not the one you mean?

You might have that mixed up with someone else's logo, neko?
Doesn't look like Sanyo ever had a logo similar to what you describe:

Looking at those Sanyo logos, there was quite a bit of soul searching in the 40s and 50s  :D

True, that!

I like the 1956 one a lot.

Umm... "rays made out of dots coming from a circle [...] somewhat resembling the current Agilent logo"?  ???

Nice find!

I wonder whether that's a logo at all, or meant to indicate a (manufacturing?) date by marking one of 12 months, and maybe one of the radial dot positions?

Manufacture date was my thought. I found a couple of others but they were less clear.

It could indicate two numbers. Notice that the outer ring has a gap missing at the 3 o'clock position and the inner ring looks like it has a line pointing to 12 o'clock.

Total guess, though :)

It did remind me of the sticker on German cars which indicates when the next roadworthiness check is due. ;-)
(Loosely... That one only shows the month, readable from afar on the "clock dial" and also via the number on top, and the year, printed in the center and also indicated by the color of the sticker.)

I've seen those marks in every single TV and VCR made in 60-s and 70-s in Japan, but they were embossed or printed on the insides of the plastic and metal casings rather than on PCBs. I always treated their meaning as manufacturing date.
