The title line is amusing.

There is probably a biology text describing a four legged biped.

What would the problem be?
11 pin octal sockets have been more or less a standard for relays (not for tubes) since long time ago.

And yes, the name stayed when the extra 3 pins were added...

There was a jazz quartet in Virginia, the "Not So Modern Jazz Quartet". Eventually they added a new member/instrument so they were now five of them but they kept their name as "quartet" because that is how they were known.

They were advertised as "the greatest quartet in the world".  :)

Mostly Harmless is a 1992 novel by Douglas Adams and the fifth book in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. It is described on the cover of the first editions as "The fifth book in the increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhikers Trilogy".

I assume you’re talking about the “11 pin octal” part.

Common names often begin as a technically precise term, and then change to encompass things that no longer fit the name. This is a great example. “RAM” is another. (Nearly all “memory” used today is random-access, yet we keep the term around to mean a specific thing.) Laser printer is another example — many “laser” printers today are actually LED line printers, but they’re commonly called “laser” anyway because the entire remainder of the xerographic process/print engine is identical.

So... nothing to see here.
