I stopped by Tanner Electronics in the Dallas area this weekend to look for some NPNs for my radiation experiments and found some old interesting transistors.
Here you see a golden 2N2305, I'm not sure what its composition is but it is "gold" on both sides and under the black paint and at least twice as heavy as the 2N4914 next to it.
Also interesting are the I guess you'd call them low profile 2N3707 transistors. I've never seen them like that before and the interesting thing is the tops of the leads are exposed.




Here's the whole of what I bought, most were old looking but no real visible dates. I'd be interested if anyone has some interesting info on any of these (outside of what the datasheets offer) such as applications.
The store owner said he did a curve trace on the stubby 2N3707 transistors and said they had a very good gain.
