One for the old computer geek

If you were involved with computers in the early 80's (or earlier) then check out this article at The Register:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/11/23/test_template/

It's a brief history of personal computers as seen through the magazines of the time. I think I've still got an issue or two of Byte magazine in a box somewhere ...

That stirs some old memories.  I started with Micro Cornucopia.  I still have a working Ferguson Big Board computer I built in 1980. Takes me awhile to remember with CP/M you had to press "B" to boot it and type in "stat" to see a directory of files.

If you want easy to digest entertainment of the times watch these: http://www.archive.org/download/http://archive.org/details/computerchronicles
Great discussions, predictions, cockups and plenty of combovers.
I love 80's microcomputers scene but I also have a sweet spot for the mainframes of the time.  IBM370, AS/400 etc.
