One of those days
« on: December 14, 2018, 12:53:20 pm »
Last night was one of "those".
Out of freaking nowhere, the beefy PS I built to power my ham rig went nuts for 10secs. It blew the fuse on my IC-706mkiig and either fried something inside the radio or fried my SWR meter (or both). I opened the PS up and everything looked ok and it works fine now. (WTF?)
The other PS I have started to act up on me and is shutting off for no apparent reason. (probably heat but it never did that before)
My brand new electronic load blew up and now has a mystery defect. It blows up every mosfet you throw at it. Every other component seems fine but it now just hates the mosfets.
The boost converter I just received is less efficient then the government and it is now a paperweight given that the seller didnt advertise that (he said 85%, more like 60%) so to get any real power at 120V you would easily go over the max input current specs. So yeah, paperweight.
That all happened in a spawn of 2 hours.
I dont even know where to start.

Not writing this for anyone to feel sorry it was just so insane, so many different things going bad at the same time for no apparent reason.

I feel you friend.
I just blew ALL capacitors on a hp Hertz counter killed the supply and the cable to the motherboard has 4 pins missing.
On top of all this to even get to the boards i had to remove the frame and power supply.
And the best part was it was fully working mere seconds before but due to me wanting to recap it i somehow forgot to put the MAIN filter caps back...

Alex.
Want a cup of TEA? (just one more meter please..)
Alex.

Oh Alex; I'm sorry to hear that.
There are some days that things just go completely sideways. It freaking sucks. I'm sure you will get that thing up and running in no time!! The DC load I blew up is now officially allergic to Mosfets. The freaking thing has 4 ICs and I can't figure out what is going on.
I'm going four-channel-probbing on this sob as soon as I get some time.
