Brilliant! If you're into that kind of comedy, you'll love the movie Top Secret! starring a very young Val Kilmer. It's a healthy mix of very subtle humour while at other times it's outright ridiculous. Here are some snippets:

It appears someone has uploaded the entire movie to YouTube as well, otherwise you can pick it up fairly cheap on DVD.

The nice thing about William Shatner is that he's willing to make fun of himself. That scene could have been lifted right out of an episode of Star Trek and Shatner's delivery makes it very realistic.

My favorite bit, the doors  :-DD

This damn "red lights, keep moving back- and forwards"...
They appear in every Star Trek series and nearly in every movie...  :-DD
(Not necessarily in starfleet vessels!)

How are the odds for their appearing in the next series?
I bet they will!   :box:

We have been Binge Watching StarTrek TNG Series on Netflix (Actually requested by my 8yr old daughter!)
And every time I see that funny laser thing with the lights going backwards and forwards (which is actually in a LOT of episodes), I think of this 'airplane' spoof.
Just saw it yesterday in a episode about a Mining Drill Station on TNG.

...appear in at least 10 TV episodes as well as in the ST movies including Star Trek II, Star Trek V, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise (but not DS9, for some reason)."

He wasn't always that way, but he does a great job of it in an old Saturday Night Live episode where naturally they do a couple of Star Trek related bits as well as one mocking the other show he did, TJ Hooker. The Trek Convention bit has to be one of the funniest things they ever did.

Sounds like a vague attempt at the old "Who's on first".

A classic that NEVER gets old! I cannot imagine the time required to get that right!

I remember my old man playing that to me some 40 odd years ago. I thought it was funny then and I still do.

Odd that "Airplane!" is actually "Flying High" in the rest of the world. Apparently the producers were not confident of the average American "getting" the title, so they dumbed it down for the US market.

Flying High 2 was an interesting "sequel" in that it had some of the same cast, but a completely different set of writers and producers. The original crew wanted nothing to do with it. I always thought it was a cheap imitation, but opinions are like arseholes. Everybody has one.

A friend and I learned that entire routine in sixth grade and did it on stage for the entire school. It took us about two weeks to learn it and 20 years later I can still remember ever word of the skit!

Before the movies, Police Squad was a (sadly) short-lived TV show. Very funny stuff.
