What do you mean “written as a route”?

US format is fairly straightforward, going from most-specific to least-specific:
Recipient Name/Company Name
[company-internal routing info like department, person, or mail stop number]
[Apartment or unit number]
House_number Street_name
City, State ZIP_code
[USA]

Everything in brackets is only as-needed.

So a minimal address looks like:
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave
Washington, DC 20500

I suppose that technically, even the name is optional, but other than junk mail, who doesn’t name the recipient? 😂

It is necessary to read the address in reverse order, and in parts. First you need to find the country at the end, read it, then drive back and read the state, etc. We have a direct order of address, which corresponds to the attachment points of the physical address:
postal code
Russian Federation
[region]
[district locality]
city/town/wilage
street
house
apartment

The reading direction corresponds to the driving route, is't it?  :)

So a minimal address looks like:
101000
Russian Federation
Mosсow
Kremlin
Ded Moroz
 :)

I learned something today!

Seems to follow the same logic as that of a date being expressed as YYYY/MM/DD.

Yes, we write the date according to the degree of importance: after all, more often we need to know the current day, not the year: dd.mm.yyyy

It is strange that in countries with an inverted address and date, the time was not reversed.  :)

Yes, I grew up with the *correct* order as well  :box: . The MM.DD may be explained by the way the English language seems to invert everything (adjective before noun), but I am unsure if other countries have this as well (I didn't look).
