Our Aussie 'Bondi' Beach !!!!
« on: January 05, 2021, 12:25:09 pm »
I don't know how many other Countries see our 'Aussie' show about the Life Savers at Sydney's Bondi Beach..
The SHEER number of rescues they perform, often up to dragging semi-conscious almost dead 'patients' as they
call them, up to full blown resus and sometimes DEATH!...  What is it that these foolish uneducated 'swimmers'
don't get???...  A VAST amount of foreign tourists are there each day, and simply do NOT choose to understand
or look/listen/follow... but literally behave like children.  They know NOTHING about 'rips', 'currents'... at SPOTS!!  :palm:

I don't need to be an 'Einstein' to realise that if there were no Life Savers there, then there would basically be
at least 20 drownings/deaths every day !!!!!!  Sigh...
Diagonal of 1x1 square = Root-2. Ok.
Diagonal of 1x1x1 cube = Root-3 !!!  Beautiful !!

What makes you think it's any different on *any* beach where non locals visit?

It's not limited to 'foreign' tourists either.

What makes you think ....

No, never about anything, the OP is just trying to use the General Chat section as his own personal chit chat space. ::)

And not limited to Australian beaches either. The sea isn't a good place for unpractised swimmers.

I've never figured out what the general chat section is for. If it's not electronic we get complaints it should not be here, if it is electronic we get complaints that it should be in one of the other sections......

Of the rule made by Dave for General Chat section ...

... 5) This is an electronics forum, so try to stay on-topic. We understand that threads drift off-topic, but try not to start deliberately and grossly off-topic stuff.

Ok, I'm aware the word "grossly" is so subjective and prolly may start another multipages arguments before Dave jumps in.  :-DD

But ... any mature and adult person, once seeing the OP's spam created threads in this section alone, or this example post below (just one example out of many  ::) ) ...

But is there a section about swimming? (nope)  :-//
Personally i don't see why this thread should even remain here, it's too off topic.

And before this thread gets closed down i'll meme one more time.  ;D

As I said, its never about anything at all, just look at the OP's previous created threads, he is well known to use this section like common online chatting and inconsequential conversations, the more replies even its not related at all, the merrier he will reply and delighted, not very sure, prolly he is very lonely.

Edit to add context of being a reply to "He is probably just lonely" comment. :) I'll remember to quote properly next time. Not used to messaging on forums, really.

We kind of all (or a good chunk of us) are at this point in the perpetual lockdowns. I'm new, so maybe no right to give an opinion, but maybe a little more leeway until we aren't mostly trapped indoors with nothing to do but talk with people online in a semi-safe community about whatever (in a general chat section) :) Beach talk kind of rubs it in, though; So I'm torn on this subject specifically.  :-DD

either way, Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and not going stir crazy!

Please STOP starting these off-topic threads. IRRC you've been warned several times about this yet you keep doing it.
Thread locked.

There are several problems with letting completely off-topic general chat just happen.
1) People get carried away, and the topics readily devolve into a guns, politics, religion, covid, etc etc.
2) It dominates and pollutes the "Unread Posts" page. Once people realise they can start a thread about anything, it will get out of hand.
3) New people will come here to check it out and are more likely to see anything but electronics and be turned off.

This!

All you have to do is check out whirlpool.net.au (AKA "Whingepool") and see what an over-moderated, steaming pile of mess that forum has become.

You get all the idiots and none of the experts. Get someone even slightly off-side and they'll start attacking you and literally asking you to cite references. Some (not all) of the moderators have the same kind of attitude, if they disagree with you, your posts get removed. Factual or not. I once had one of my posts deleted for referring to someone as a "troll" even though that person literally had their post deleted for "trolling" (the reason was visible to all). They claimed it was a "personal attack".

That kind of shit is not going to happen here. I think Dave is pretty relaxed when it comes to what's allowable, but once it becomes a complete free-for-all, admins lose control and it ends up like Whingepool. Rules should be enforced equally and consistently. I'll repeat what I've previously said: Dave has locked some of my threads before and I fully expect to get a cranky SMS if I cross that line even now.
