Part number for this common wire-to-board connector?
« on: June 26, 2023, 01:46:55 am »
I've spent an hour combing through DigiKey and Mouser and I can't find this exact part. It's 2.45 mm (0.100") pitch, 2-position. The part of the plug that slides inside the receptacle is 5.8 mm x 4.15 mm. Pictures attached (for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get images inline).

Hirose makes a lot of connectors like this.  Digikey sells them, although I don't know they carry the entire line.  Connector manufacturers make a lot of different connectors, often not compatible with anyone else's connectors, even the old standby, 0.1 inch 25 mil post parts.  The pins have many different lengths and the sockets have many different depths.

Looks quite similar to a standard JST connector.

One of these:

I would  say JST as well. The XH series. The pitch is formally 2.5mm.

Yeah, pretty certain this is it! Although I looked more closely at the receptacle housing, and it has "21 JSW" embossed on it. The plug has "Q2" and "HJSY" embossed on it.

Thanks!

Yep, it’s 100% a JST XH connector — well, a clone of it (the genuine ones are marked JST). I’ve used them many times.

As SiliconWizard said, it’s a 2.50mm pitch (even if the aliexpress listings often erroneously call them “XH2.54”). Depending on your PCB hole sizes, you can usually fit up to about a 10-position XH into a footprint intended for a 2.54mm header.

A good magnifying glass is an absolute necessity in electronics now-a-days. 5X, and10X Hastings Triplets are good choices.
