Just out of curiosity, can someone identify the accent?  Is that Cockney?

Its East london .. I think the correct dialect would be " Geezer "  :)

So not so long ago he went off crying that it's too stressful, and now he's going 'woohoo, I'm on TV!'.

Drama queen.

With that manner of presentation I have the hardest time believing he knows what he is doing. It may have street cred, but it sure doesn't have any intellectual credibility.

Whether he knows it or not, he's a very clever man.

With the shift from broadcast TV to "on demand" content delivered via the Net, the demand for content such as Dave's EEVblog and PhotonVids will increase significantly over the coming years.

The "stars" and "celebrities" of the future won't come from Fox, CBS, or whatever -- they'll come from cyberspace and grow like wildfire due to the massive promotional effects that social media can deliver.

The fact that the mainstream broadcast media are already taking note of, and an interest in, PhotonVids is proof of this.  They know that these new "celebs" are a growing phenomenon.

First we had "reality TV", which was in fact far removed from reality but allowed the broadcasters to bring "personalities" into programming in a way they could never have done before (and at a very low cost).  Now the audience is growing tired of that artificial "reality" -- because they can get a fresher, less "edited" version of it online.

The mainstream media know they're losing out to these self-made celebs and will soon be working hard to pick up on the success of folk who've "made it" in cyberspace with offers to deliver their content through "real TV".  I don't know that such arrangements will work - but it does show the power of an individual who's able to create and grow a brand that people enjoy.

Just as recording companies have become increasingly irrelevant with the rise of the Net and movie studios are also finding themselves faced with increasing competition from "independent" producers (eg: ), so broadcast TV are finding that independent content producers with a strong brand have the potential to significantly eat into their market share and revenues.

Go the independent content creators!

This is seriously racist; if you're trying to be funny, it doesn't come across that way.

With that accent I have the hardest time believing he knows what he is doing. It may have street cred, but it sure doesn't have any intellectual credibility.

I can't take burger-stuffing, "asshole"-saying yanks seriously... oh, sorry - that's bigotry, isn't it?

I'm British, I'm very familiar with the accents around London and the South East where I have lived my whole life, and I can't take someone seriously who speaks like that when presenting to an audience. Sure, he's welcome to speak like that down the pub with his mates, but the only message it conveys on YouTube is "Hey, look at me, I'm acting the clown!" Sorry if that offends you.

If you judge someone by their accent

I don't judge someone by their accent, that would be bigoted. I love hearing different accents.

PhotonicInduction isn't speaking with an accent, he's using "street" speech. There's a subtle difference.

His accent is awesome.  That, and the "I ain't 'avin it!" routine.  Not so educational, but great entertainment.  Nothing beats brick vs. washing machine.

Michael Caine made his fortune from his accent which is very similar.

OK, I used the word "accent" in error. I've gone back and changed it.

What I was trying to say was that putting on a clown act as he does means he is hard to take seriously. But maybe he is aiming purely for entertainment and he isn't trying to say anything beyond that. Which is fine.

Watch some of the Photon videos on AintBigAintClever's channel and you'll see a very different demeanor when he's not narrating for the camera. If you've ever met/worked with entertainers then this won't come as a surprise, but the person you see on stage or on the screen is rarely what you would expect them to be like in real person. Its called Entertainment! If he didn't express his knowledge & creativity in wacky and interesting ways then his videos would be like every other nerd  tinkering with a transformer video on youtube.

What accent do you have? Despite not being from the UK I found it very clear to understand when watching your videos.
