You'd be amazed how much completely unused 50 year old stuff is sitting around in warehouses, especially when the military is involved. Just look at some of the YouTube channels that look at old technology, and how many unused products in their original packaging they manage to pick up. Photonicinduction is just one of many, focussing on different areas of technology.

I always wanted one of those rectifiers after seeing them in the London Science Museum in South Kensington as a kid. The used to have one running, and one with a button on the outside of the wooden display case which activated the energised dipping starter electrode.

I was once driving home from work (back in the early '80s) when I was surprise to see a pile of them on the back of a lorry going in the opposite direction! I've no idea whether they were intact or had been drained of Mercury (presumably so!) but the shapes were unmistakeable.
Best Regards, Chris

People gain popularity by appearing on Youtube and doing stuff. This guy gained popularity by Not appearing and doing nothing for long time.
I understand this is not his fault but rather twisted mind of the crowd, who made the poor guy a martyr citing his personal issues. I find this very weird.

I find everything related to large groups of humans very weird.  And scary.

People miss things they haven't seen or used for a long time; this brings them back to a time where memories tend to become rosy as time goes by (i.e., only good things tend to surface). In other words, nostalgia.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

You are absolutely correct.
A guy once made some videos of a military warehouse where one could see dozens of boxes of piston rings for the Wright Cyclone engines used on the B-29 Superfortress.

But in Photonic’s video, one can very briefly read the shipping label where -apparently- the box was initially sent to some sort of amusement park.
