PICKit 2 vs. PICKit Serial Analyzer
« on: October 27, 2014, 07:52:52 pm »
Hi !

I got the PICKit Serial Analyzer today and of course:
Don't turn it on, take it APART !  ;) ;) ;)

Opening that it became obvious that the PICKit Serial Analyzer is the same as a PICKit 2 minus the flash chips and some miscellaneous circuity, maybe the programming voltage generation.

I think in EEVBlog #39 Dave mentioned that the PICKit2 can also be used as an Analyzer.
So I think I got ripped off, sort of.
I wonder if I could have got yet another PICKit2 and uploaded the Analyzer firmware.

Looking forward to hear about your experiences with that one.

Cheers,
Chipguy

I had 2 PK2's and one turned belly up so 'invested' in a PK3  with PIC16fs this was little used, carried on with PK2 ... now moved on to PIC24s and have 2 PK3 ( price drop recently) and use the PK2 mostly as serial analyzer. would like to repair the PK2 but to sure which bit its dead.
Check your tongue, your belly and your lust. Better to enjoy someone else’s madness.

Pickit2 all the way here, :)

programmer, serial analyzer and logic analyzer. It does everything other than toasting my bread, :)

Too bad for Microchip that it abandoned pickit2.
