Following some of the links, apparently people are talking about using the energy generated to. . .wait for it. . .power passing (hybrid) cars.  :palm:

Why don't we just simplify the whole process and put a wind turbine on every car. The faster the car goes, the more energy to drive the wheels. It's flawless!

My G_d man, you've got it!  Off to kickstarter...

And... Put a fan blowing in the opposite direction too!

I have an idea.  Instead of powering the electric cars with electricity generated by gasoline burning cars, which is very inefficient, we could just replace the electric car batteries with it's own gasoline engine.  Efficiency would soar!  We need to demand that car manufacturers start making gasoline powered cars, to save the environment.

While we're at it, make everything gas powered!

Everyone acts like electricity just comes from a natural spring somewhere.

Everyone acts like electricity just comes from a natural spring somewhere.

It's a little known fact that all electricity is in fact derived from humans producing one hundred and twenty volts of bio-electricity each.  The laws of physics are an illusion to stop us from realising the Matrix.

I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm living in some slapstick movie...like "The Sleeper", for example.

I've got one of those. Mileage isn't much good though, 6 gallons/hour of full fat leaded if I'm lucky, but at least that's at about 110mph. Doesn't do much for my green credentials either.

No, no. The propeller isn't used to move the aircraft. It's just used to keep the pilot cool. Case in point, just watch how he sweats when it stops!

No, that is why you use a helicopter, as there the fan is bigger. If you have one at the front you have time to consider where the crash will be, if it is above you pretty much know thay the only way is straight down.

Interesting muse, the US and the USSR both made helicopters with an ejection seat. The USSR blew you oyt sideways then fired a rocket to take you up without being sliced by the blades. The US version used an explosive charge to punch a massive steel block into the main gear, snapping the blades off at the root from the massive overload, then firing the pilot up through the now vacated space. Biggest problem they had was armouring all the detcords so a stray bullet or a fire would not cause an accidental activation.

USSR also had planes with bottom eject. Bit of a problem if you had a failure on take off and did not have V2, so you could not do the standard low altitude eject of roll and pull away from the ground. There you just took out the rifle team, did the salute and filled in the hole.

NATO had bottom eject planes as well, like the Lockheed F-104. It also had aerodynamic deficiencies that tended to cause fatal stalls on takeoff/landing--at an altitude where ejecting down will just smash you into the ground. And in a stall you tend to lose your ability to roll. So your choice if you'd rather be fried or jellied.

One of the worst fighters ever fielded.

I remember the one pilot talking about when he made the decision that ejection would be a good idea. He looked out the front window, and the trees were above the nose, at his best glide angle of attack of around 30 degrees. He felt the tail hit the ground just before the seat charge fired, as there is a 200ms delay charge so the canopy separation charge can fragment the canopy and then the separation charge will not put his head through the canopy ( though if it fails there is a penetrator bar above his head, but the risk is high he will lose his eyes from the visor shattering then on the canopy) as he is fired out with the seat. As he landed the OC drove up. The fire truck said it was easy to get to the accident scene, they followed the straight row of new tyre tracks to the pillar of smoke. He did not go around trees and bushed, he went over or through, at high speed.
