Is PLA plastic safe for people with latex allergies?

Find a SMALL piece of PLA, say about 5mm square, and tape it against your skin for a day or so. If it starts itching or the skin goes red then the material is not safe.

Get your friend to try that... but PLA is not latex. Allergies to the latter come from its proteins, which pure PLA does not contain.

Wikipedia says it can be used for medical implants: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polylactic_acid#Applications (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polylactic_acid#Applications).  If that's accurate, the incidence of allergic reactions to it must be very low.

I have an allergy to sweetcorn and the reaction (if ingested) is just as severe as peanuts. When they ran the test a small piece was left against my skin and all it created was a red mark.
