Instrument case Static control. Please Help!

I just got a new instrument case for a new digital mixer and laptop and the thing is putting off enough static to push the cat across the floor. Its a Seahorse case. It is supposed to be the same spec as pelican and is specifically made for electronic instruments. Or so they claim. Is there anything I can do to help? Some kind of spray or wipe that is not just hocum snake oil.

Not sure about a permanent solution, but I've previously used a spray bottle with water and a small amount of dish washing detergent or laundry fabric softener on carpets and that's been quite successful. However if you're storing electronics in it and the case is airtight, humidity might be an issue for you.

Oh.  Good idea. Fabric softener.  I may first wipe it down with a dryer sheet.  Thanks!

Not a drier sheet, but actual liquid softener, and wipe with a cloth dampened with it inside and out, and let dry. Works for me on carpeting to dump static charge on the odd day the humidity acually is low enough to allow it to build.

Was not possible in school science to actually use the Van de Graaf generator in the class, as it would bleed off the charge as fast as it was transferred.
