How to solve Apple unlock security problem
« on: February 01, 2023, 08:12:45 pm »
1;goto apple store to unlock your device
2;pay reasonable fee and give personal data for a year in case device is stolen
3;done

in stolen case it  would be problematic to prove ownership except first owner of particular device
probability for scams
permanent locking will solve it but device can be easily dissembled and sold for parts (higher demand higher price)
permanent locking is bad for environment

who is winning and who is losing ?

how to solve it? the way people did it before Apple.

(Bearing in mind that I didn’t watch the video because I can’t stand that guy.) You need to understand that it’s not only an issue of Apple not wanting to unlock the devices, but rather that the hardware encryption is designed such that they can’t easily do it.

I also think that people need to pay attention when it comes to setting things up. They give you multiple ways to save your recovery key, including key escrow and printing it out. I won’t go quite so far as to say the user is entirely to blame, but they’re definitely mostly to blame.

It's an online activation so they are perfectly capable of unlocking them.
