Rummaging in my files I found a TI chart which I found useful and interesting in understanding the different SMPS topologies.
It has all the different topologies and a basic description of currents and voltages which helped me understand the basics of each one.
The one topology I find missing is the Cuk converter which, I suppose, can be considered a variant of the SEPIC converter.
A similar chart can be found at
http://www.ti.com/lit/sg/sluw001f/sluw001f.pdf . That one seems like a variant of the one I have which is much older. I suppose they complement each other.
The old one I am attaching is about 560KB while the newer one at TI is 19600KB even though they contain pretty much the same information.
Maybe someone will find this useful. I have found a lot of useful documentation at the TI site.
