I don't get all the hate for IE, I only had issues with it in the last year or so, before that it worked fantastically every time.
Clearly you haven't done any web development. IE was a problem child every step of the way, and MS just refused to fix issues for it over a period of a decade. IE rightly earned hate from the public and the development community.

I doubt most people who complain about it are web developers lol

If it's any consolation I'm an Edge user. On both Win 10 desktop and mobile.

And just to melt your brains, my day job is a Linux sysadmin and software engineer.

The rationale behind this is when I get home at night I don't want to deal with administrative tasks. I just want something that works. It's all about perspective. When I was a Windows software developer years ago, I longed to use Linux after a day at work because the grass was greener.

when posting a message the following icons do not respond or work.

I had the same problem.  I suspected that the problem is the rendering code/javascript didn't recognize the user agent string used by Edge. I verified that was true by changing it to IE11 and sure enough everything worked.

You can do that yourself: hit F12, click the Emulation tab, change the User agent string to IE11.  That will reload the page.  At that point the emoticon will work again.

Excellent, thanks for that tip. Bummer that one will have to do it every time one posts, but better than having to change browsers just to do a proper post.
