Problem with forum links and "the dont report problem page "

Periodically over months whenever I was trying to link to the forum from  my favorites I was sometimes getting the page, "Gateway timeout -We are aware of this problem you dont need to report it, signed Dave and Gnif" instead of the forum ,this was happening with any browser I tried.
I found that deleting my cookies  fixed it for a while. Got it yesterday but this time cookie cleaning did not fix it. I even tried linking to the forum from the FORUM link on the main EEVBLOG page, it now also links to that  'we are aware of prob ' page instead of the forum .
Just found out it is now something to do with the 'url' my favorite link was using  https://www.eevblog.com/forum  (which is also the link on the main page which no longer works as of yesterday ) .The link must now  be https://www.eevblog.com/forum/index.php
What changed ?  can anyone else still link to forum from the main site or is it just me . ?

This issue is already addressed and discuss in this thread.

BTW, both links are essentially the same.
