Professional Electronic Engineering and/or Computing Association?
(1/1)
EETAAS97:
???
I apologize if this question has already been answered here. If so, please let me know if you decide to move it elsewhere on the forum.
I was wondering if this would be useful or not for Electronic Engineers and Computer Professionals. I know of a few that are good but was wondering if there are any for Electronic Engineers. If so, do they share both the Electronic and Computer mind set.
Which professional engineering and/or computing association should I consider joining or should I even be wasting my time with them?
Thank You
:)

The IEEE is the most widely recognised.

In Australia we have the IEA as well.
Yes, they are generally a waste of time, but some people like them on your resume.
The journals they send you are the typical boring academic papers, but if that excites you then go for it.
They organise even more boring lectures and things too.

If you're working in Australia, don't waste your time. Very few companies (except woodside, for example) actually care as long as you know your stuff. Its a different story in Europe/America though, mostly because being a Professional Engineer is more prestigious there. Unfortunately, in Australia most people don't know/care what Engineers do and rarely have to interact with one, thus no point! :P
