Title: program pic10f202 sot23-6 with a tl866ii plus
Post by: oggie on October 15, 2022, 10:07:31 pm
anyone know how I might program this pic chip with my tl866? It supports the chip in dip8 package.  And it also is able to program it in ICSP mode.

Is my best bet to build some sort of jig with the ICSP cable and program it that way?

How many do you need to program?  For just one, get an SOT23-6 breakout board and do as you suggest.  You might also be able to use micro-grabbers.  You need to keep the leads short  (6" or so).

If you are doing a lot of them, then there are "burn in" sockets.  I use the 3M Textool versions.  There are cheaper Chinese versions.

I'm only doing 5-10 this go around.  If there's enough demand, I might do more down the road.

If it were me, I'd get a burn-in socket.  Can't find the 3M version, but eBay has versions from China for about $18 including shipping.  My patience for soldering leads to an SOT23 would wear very thin after just 2 or 3.  I have used my SOIC8 socket more than I thought I would.
