Hi,
many of you may have to stumpled on a rubbish site, that have generated content from other sites, or videos that are just not worth watching (thanks youtube for removing the negative review count).

I am wondering, if there is a plugin/program, that would filter out such rubbish. Because it is getting really messy as AI rubbish is hyped so much!

Cheers,
Toby

That’s… actually a really good idea!

A plug in that blocks you from seeing AI generated rubbish (even just AI generated articles from searches) would really be really useful and I can only imagine the issue is gonna get worse as time goes on!

Honestly, at this rate it isn’t going to be long before there is more trash AI generated trash on the internet than there is porn and cats videos!!!  :-DD

Surely that idea has to be in the works by now! Or.. maybe it is impossible to implement which is why no one has done it  :'(

Sturgeon's law +Rule 35 implies that the internet will become overwhelmed with AI generated pornographic cat videos!

There is this Web of Trust plugin for browsers:

Youtube videos? Maybe but it has to be user reported, and then they would just use it to suppress videos with their opposing political views.

I don't have a solution for youtube, but for search results, i once got fed up with anything from quora and medium garbage in my google results. Luckily there was already a plugin that blocked results from whichever domain i added to the list. They are still loaded, but they are removed from sight. So, everytime i follow a link that goes to aggregators of garbage it gets added to the list

To view YT dislikes, try the 'KellyC Show YouTube Dislikes' browser plugin.

I use: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/blocktube/

And there are various other plugins if you google for: browser addon hide/block youtube channels.

To be honest the list is getting increasingly longer. The quality of YT suggestions is going down lately. Perhaps a countermeasure to adblocking?[/tin-foil-hat]. After all: YT has zero interest in attracting non-revenue generating clients to keep on clicking videos and consuming bandwidth.

My pet hate are "instructional" videos with rubbish background music by a demented monkey playing an electric drum kit and no talking. They're normally made by people who don't speak English and are very click baity, telling lies or stupid/dangerous advice.

Yeah this has become a real problem. First page of search results is often full of ai-generated trash. Quora, medium, paywalled crap like researchgate, whatever. I wouldn't even need automatic detection, but some plugin that could filter search results and remove blacklisted domains (that I can add one by one manually, that's fine) from them would be very helpful.

This seemed like a good place to post this little tip I found today.
This youtuber seems, like me, to prefer to avoid youtube shorts as a means to make yourself feel just a little bit dumber whenever you watch them.
Since I installed Ublock origin a few months ago to deal with the ad blocking issues I found it only a few minutes work to install a filter he set up to just make the option go away. I've only just installed it so I can't report any problems but he was the channel that helped me get my ad blocking issues sorted out fairly painlessly.

It is a very short video, ironically.

A thousand thanks!
Wish I could do the same on my phone.
Too often I have a genuine research reason to be on youtube but end up watching some nonesense.
