Pulse Heat soldering - advantages
« on: August 15, 2014, 08:05:52 pm »
As far as I understand Pulse Heat soldering is used for  soldering FPC  (Flexible Printed Circuit) on LCD using ACF( anisotropic conductive film) also called  ACF bonding.
Can anyone let me know why  pulse heating is used? What are advantages ?
Thank you for replies

As I understand pulse heat soldering is good for those type of cables because pressure is maintained until solder gets solid again. I guess it's less costly because the tool tip is not hot all the time (like a regular soldering iron).

I wonder how good a pulse heat soldering tweezer would be for SMD soldering. I imagine myself removing a couple of bad SMD caps and diodes in just a few seconds. And putting them back as quickly. :)
