quadcopter take off crash
« on: February 19, 2014, 02:15:57 pm »
Hi

What a crappy day after months of waiting for parts I got to fly first time and yes it crashed on neighbours roof and hit the floor, I noticed  when it took off it kept moving left . I'm using a apm 2.5 set-up and I followed all the help.

Ended up with a broken frame and  broken telemetry 2.4GHZ antenna.

What a crap day!

It is sometimes helpful to practice with cheaper copters, first.  Break the cheap ones while you learn...

Your first ever flight?

If it was then you did well to get away with what you did!
@Dawgie

Yeah very first flight in fact I had more hardware issues than flight time off the top of my head.

Round 1, no throttle spent week debugging the issue (software and wiring) , turned out the SMD chip resistor 0603 chip was not making contact.(bad board off ebay, seller offered replacement but to wait another few weeks no way, took it apart!)
Round 2 , problem with the power supply, found out I bought a power moudle that didnt have the 5v switching BEC. Bought that from RS sweet it worked,
Round 3, connecting up all the components the APM 2.5 internal voltage 3.3 regulator dies silently , word on the net is high current voltage spike, I think its the ebay junk replaced that with a  genuine ti part.

Finally, the goal set-up, calibrate fly and crash it was immense fun and sadness at the same time.
