Quick connect/Push-Pull 220V plugs

I have some good corded tools that I had my mom to ship them from Portugal to Mainland China.

As European ones, the plug is Schuko (with Earth) or Europlug (non earthed/double insulation in the tool).

I will use them in Mainland China where contrary to Europe both 2 and 3 pin plugs are not compatible (2 pin is similar to US and Japan, 3 pin is like the Australian 3 pin plug) and in Hong Kong (British 3 pin plug).

I don't want to use travel adapters on the end of the plugs. So I though of cutting the wire (leaving a 50cm length) of the tool close to the handle and fitting a quick release plug and having 3 different cords for each use: Schuko, Australian and UK.

What kind of push/pull connectors type you guys use? I've saw a ton of them that do the function but the only experience with such connectors is low voltage LEMO FGG/PHG and Neutrik XLR.

I agree most travel adapters are horrible, and many dont provide a proper ground even when its present at the wall socket.

However don't cut the leads short near the tools!  That's where they flex the most and are most likely to hang up on stuff, so its a really bad place to put a connector.  Instead, cut off the Shuko or Europlug right at the plug and fit IEC 60320 C14 trailing connectors, so you can simply use locally obtained C13 power cords as adapters.

That was silly from my part. It totally flew over my head such connectors. And they also have very short terminations like 100mm just for that kind of use.

To make the cable look like it was from factory. Festools have in the body of their tools an C14 connector and you just connect the cable. The ones I have (HILTI) don't so I was trying to get such look.

Is that such a bad thing on the far end of a power tool lead?  If its getting pulled tight or jerked, you are doing something wrong and probably dangerous . . .

FWIW that hasn’t been my experience.
