BS.  It's a breadboard.  The wires do not need to be perfectly straight.  Copper work hardens as do most metals, which means bending it back to its original is almost impossible.  Probably the ends have already been bent to fit in the holes.  How do you roll them?  Just use your fingers, If you're a tool junkie, get a pair do duck bill pliers or "hand seamer."

Bonjour,

A neat breadboard with straight wires is easier to work on and professional appearance.
Since 1970, our procedure for wires to use on perforated or other breadboards and prototypes:

1/ Use  bare solid bus wire # 20...26

2/ Use two needle nose pliers or a vise and one plier.

3/ Wind one turn of wire around the plier tip spaced by desired length.

4/ Pull slowly until the wire stretches  about  5..10% of length

Result: Perfectly straight wire.

Bon soiree

You'll get no disagreement from me about the advantages of a neat breadboard.  I effectively stopped using solderless versions years ago, except for the simplest and temporary projects.  For solderable boards, I usually use something with THP contacts arranged similarly to the solderless boards.  Layout is easy using Eagle, and one gets schematic capture that way too.

Here's an example done years ago without PTH: (attached)

My preferred wire is 24 AWG with Kynar insulation.  Insulated wire allows "trunks" to be built.  Kynar avoids the ugly burn/melt back of PVC wire.

Yes, stretching annealed copper wire will make it straight.  I just roll it on the bench with my finger.  However, I interpreted this thread to be about solderless boards in which the wires are re-used.

I don't think OP said they needed to be perfectly straight.
I was told in class not to use straight wires, and do point to point loops. Of course for a less dense design straight wires will work and be easier to trace.
