Rant: eBay
« on: February 01, 2021, 12:07:44 am »
Why does it ask for the password ... every... single ... time... I simply want to edit or revise an item?

And why does their silly picture uploading thing always flip the pictures the wrong way?
Hoarder of 8-bit Commodore relics and 1960s Tektronix 500-series stuff. Unconventional interior decorator.

In all honesty, you are probably better off using Facebook marketplace for selling stuff, unless you want to reach international customers or you have something niche to sell.

Downside, you need to use Facebook.

Is that on a phone, or something?  I don't see that on PC

Gee, I do. I can buy stuff with no PW, but if I wanna leave feedback it's like I have to give up my first born.

eBay is full of crazy people nowadays

To summarize, I paid for two hard-drives described as "in working order", and I received two damaged units because poorly packaged. But the seller not only has not even tried to find a solution (return? refund?) for the problem he has himself caused, he also found reasonable to insult.

baloney!! its very adequate you idiot!! its a tiny small chip. That's what protective bubble mailers are for. These things are shipped like that all the time i have shipped 1000's of times like this you're a lousy crook and a liar!!
lousy crook? liar? sure, hard-drives arrived damaged, but a thin layer of protective bubble in a soft envelope is "adequate" for this kind of goods  :scared:

I gone tired of this kind of person on eBay.

Amazon can be an alternative.

Ever been doxxed on eBay?  Then have every person you call at eBay start the conversation by blaming you for the doxing?  That was not a good week.

Triple [puke] at all of the popular options, including eBay.  I'm never seeling on it again, as bad as it sounds I now prefer to bin equipment  :'(

That's weird - I sign in once, and that's it - which is as you would expect!  - Ad blocker causing issues, nuking cookies, etc.?

Seems to be a new thing. I used to be able to interact with ebay for weeks, perhaps months between logins. Now it seems to forget who I am every time I navigate to a different section of the site.

It stores my login. Seems like there's a "stay signed in" option somewhere. Try clearing your browser cache and reload the page. Ad/script blockers can break things too, you might have to whitelist some stuff.

well, as buyer Amazon protects me more, as seller it costs me less money than eBay and offers a better  logistic services, and doesn't force me to use Paypal.

so I see it as a good alternative.

I've noticed Google Craptcha ( I am not a robot) has gone. I can log in with out the game of finding crosswalks and bicycles, every single time. Maybe some smart ten year old figured a way of using the Google Lens image recognition app, to identify buses and fire hydrants?

I'd like to know why I now have to give them access to a bank account in order to sell something.

Both have strengths and weaknesses, depending on the product - I usually end up checking both!

As a buyer, I think Amazon search is weak, eBay is "ok".   Amazon seems to always show way too many irrelevant results and I haven't found a way to exclude search terms.
