Really cheap Electric cars.

I'd say the "electronics design" is more or less an issue of labour costs - and not of preferring a certain country. As long as the education is "good enough", any country will do.
There are plenty of well educated people in Asia, esp. China, so there is no reason not to do your development and manufacturing there.
Annoying for people in high-labour-cost countries, I agree. But you know what? Same thing happens to chinese employees right now, as manufacturing moves to even cheaper countries.

As for chinese EVs: To meet US/EU-standards, the prices need to raise by a lot. It's simply impossible to have a road legal car as cheap as in China. Their main advantage is low labour costs, state funding, very restrictive working laws and a large, quite restricted, market to grow before expanding to the outside world.
However besides some flagship efforts, I can't see them overrunning the US/EU-market anytime soon. They are not that much different from the japanese car makers "back then", which were able to grab some nice market share, but only by investing heavily into the target markets and eventually be just another local car maker (just with another badge).

I was thinking the other day that things had gone a suspiciously quiet. That's usually a sign that Treez is working up to a troll thread!

These 'We are planning' threads also seem to tie up with empty periods in your linkedin profile An Treez. Considering the number you have been briefly 'associated' with, it's hard to credit your recurring assertions about UK engineering companies being "token". It's just more of the same UK/China crap that you parrot out time and time again. As usual you haven't done even the most basic research before making your assertions ("4x cheaper" in this case).

There is no way you will ever look genuine, you lack the credibility to get past even the most cursory government funding checks (lax though they are) to pull off such a con. I don't see you getting further than an agency job on an EV production line.

BTW, You really ought to credit eevblog forum members for the long lists of stuff you claim to have fixed!

When is enough, enough?  ::)

What IS the difference between a Fairy Tale and a Treez/Faringdon post??  :-//

A Fairy Tale usually starts with “Once upon a time”; has a whimsical story line and usually ends with “They lived happily ever-after”  :-+

A Treez/Faringdon post usually starts with “Don’t you agree?” or “We are planning”; followed by wild assumptions but there is never an ending (unfortunately).  |O

That video is blocked in the UK.

Another reason to get a VPN?

Download a copy of the Opera browser, it has an inbuilt VPN for the browser window.  I use it for testing websites where I need to be seen to be arriving from "outside", you can pick the EU, Americas, or Asia.  Works well enough for what I need it for without resorting to a full VPN client/service.

As the "middle man" acting as the importer in the EU/UK, you will be legally liable for standards compliance etc.  Your name (and/or company name) will be all over the paperwork.  I hope you can get suitable insurance...

Throwing in the OEM has to accept you as their representative, which should be a fun ride.  Naturally, if you want to re-brand them under your own moniker, you're now liable for everything that can happen to them during the warranty period.  Holding spares, writing the maintenance manuals, dealing with the type approval organisations.

Drop back when you're all up and running with a link to the website for the vehicles or, better yet, the showroom where they can be viewed and/or test driven.
