Please name (or link to) a short project
« on: February 24, 2019, 12:53:02 pm »
Collecting ideas of fun or interesting projects that are less than a day-work short.

You know what, changed my mind:  Everything goes, including longer projects or even bucket-lists!  :D

Assorted power supplies?  I knocked together this module over the last week, about:

12V input, 150-800V output, about 50W capacity.  UC3843 based flyback (the two transistors are in parallel, and the output is +/- flyback, ground referenced for + output only).

Cutesy kits?  Learning projects?  Oscillator, timer, amplifier, counter, wire up an MCU, sensor, IoT thing, what catches your fancy? ;)

It's easy to hack Homeplug adapters to work over telephone lines, effectively making a really cheap source of high speed short haul modems. The particular pair shown gets about 600Mbps of real world bandwidth - a little more than 10000 times of what used to be considered the limit! (Granted, that's short distance.)
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

An analog vocoder is also kind a fun to make.
