Adult sites listed under dishwasher repair ???

Looking up some stuff for dishwasher repair on google, on the 1st or 2nd page there's a bunch of sites, that when clicked on, it doesn;t show the site listed, but some dating site type thing., "mycasualdating....."

Out of all the repair searches I've ever done, I can't remember ever seeing this crap before, maybe my PC has a virus? Or is this not that uncommon

I bet pretty much all of them are fakes, or it's my firefox be redirected some how, to that dating site or whatever kind of scam site it really is.

Same thing happening with playlists on YouTube: they stuff playlists of porn videos with huge descriptions of unrelated topics. I came across this recently with soldering videos.

  Fixed it for you.   Google and the other search engines will give you whatever results that companies are willing to pay them to give you, regardless of what you actually search for.  Between that and Social/Political BS on the internet and the Pay Walls on many sites I think the internet is rapidly becoming irrelevant.

I use noscript and adblocker, but I get taken to some front page with some age "verification" thing, on most the sites lower down the overall page.

Those look like infected domains.
All of these hits are randomized subdomains of ordinary looking domains. Most of the domains are totally unrelated to dishwashers.

Also all of them are european. Is your country flag accurate? I would not expecting google to show you any german domain, when searching from canada with english terms.
If you are in Canada, are you using a VPN service? Some of those are quite shady and i would not be surprised if they are injecting your searches with crap.

Words showing up in a search on otherwise irrelevant pages with domain names clearly nothing to do with the search term...
Far too common nowadays, I think there is a spam industry around producing pages of nonsense (perhaps AI assisted generation) filled with keywords and incomprehensible sentances. The sites are then stuffed with adverts. Quite possible the "dating" site isn't even dating, just an entire site fileld with junk pages designed to get positioned in search results and then to show ads to a visitor, or even automatically redirect them to other spam pages. Very common for them to have unpronounceable letter combination domain names too.

I found similar sites when searching for test equipment. They must use SEO keywords to lure crawlers and unsuspecting people to the site.

It is damn annoying searching for coed colleges do dallas daily and all these links to dishwashers come up.

I have noticed the same for quite a while, and for just about any kind of search.

There's an increasing number of phishing links looking "legit" in the search results, but that redirect to spam web sites like porn/online casino/fake games/dating (but fishy dating stuff)/etc.
I thought Google was supposed to be very good at filtering out that and making searches the most relevant possible. I thought Google was safe. Yeah, right.

I've noticed I get a new IP address around midnight (from my ISP) and the advertising is based around whomever had it before me. Your ISP might change your IP address within the pool.

There are some serious fingerprinting/tracking technologies being used.
A few times I was using TOR browser and google ads showed up for semiconductors

I start seeing those on the 3rd page with your search terms. Looks like typical SEO spam sites, easily recognisable and skippable. This used to be how it was, before around 10 years ago Google started aggressively filtering them out, and most recently it was hard to find anything because they were trimming out good sites too. Now it seems they've started relaxing that filtering, so on one hand it's annoying to see, but on the other hand, I'm happy that I can wade through many pages looking for the good stuff again like I used to do back in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Yeah, but as you said, those are usually "easily recognizable". So how come Google search is not able to recognize them and filter them, with all their experience in the matter, SoA algorithms and all this AI?

I get pissed at google as the first page of any search results are adverts,nothing to do with what i looked for,just seems they want to shove ads down your throat no matter what,for me the internet has gone downhill,was not this way 20yrs ago!.
