Didn't make me cringe. Those old videos have a charm of their own. Maybe i'm nostalgic. Anyway, I'm sure in 30 years the cool kids will all laugh while cringing at Dave's videos too 

But more importantly someone with access to that library should go out and digitize all that stuff. Worry about copyright later.

Well they may be old for some sort. Now with super PID controlled soldering iron we don't worry much about tip size and iron size.

But those courses teach you how to solder nasa-like with a 7$ soldering iron...
