Not certain how this is any benefit over oxy-acetylene brazing. I guess you don't need to take the gas tanks with you.
No, I don't do plumbing. Anyways, that's probably a bad video to link since everyone would think it's meant only for brazing. I should have linked to something like the tweezer or soldering stick video like this.
I think one advantage to using this over the blow torch is that you're only using electricity. And everyone has electricity
I can see how this is useful in some assembly factories where those gas tanks are eliminated. Plus the unit operate on 120V AC which meant that factories owner could use any household outlets instead of the commercial 240V.
This seemed to be popular with people building train models since when I googled those sites pop up alot.
Also, it seemed to work similar to those cold heat soldering irons. Those irons are a piece of crap.
I am into this kind of things because I've always been fascinated with commercial equipments. They are usually very well made. However, this stuffs seemed easy to make. One day, I gotta make a homemade version of their tweezer.
