Restart in Electronics after apartament burndown?
« on: January 03, 2016, 04:04:05 pm »
i Need Kind of advice...
20.05.2015 burned my apartament down. the reason isn't clear right now and it doesn't matter right now
It was the 3rd one on that street (Kind of the 2nd on the street but 1 burned on the Corner so it has diffrent StreetName but it's  same street(if you look at it))

now i have apartament again (i was in some homeless-thingy for a loong time and before that i was in Hospital (1week))

and my question is how do i start again?
i love electronics and i want to do smth !
(my mom and dad (he's dead) had both Jobs or interests in electronics) and so i have
i didn't have a lot of Equipment or pro stuff but a freakin lot of parts, now i don't have anything i did bought some General Tools (screwdrivers and wrenches and few stuff for Smartphone repair so i can fix some stuff) and also a drill and polishing/sanding thyngy (was really cheap and i needed to repair some fornitures)
i do have an Laptop (2nd handed :)) and some other stuff (that i got from friends) and i'll do smth. with them in future

where should i start? soldering iron? or breadboard ?
it's Kind of weird question but i have no idea ?
i know that buying cheap Tools and Equipment is 80% wasted Money so if i get DMM it will be 50€+ (i can do well with 20€ iron for some time ) and i did make Tools and Equipment myself back then (psu and stuff like that) but since anything is gone where should i start?

i could open gofundme campain or smth like that but i don't think anybody will ever give me something (even i'm pretty nice IRL to People :) )
i have right now 1/5 of my Equipment and 1/100 of my parts

now i have more space and so on but while i'm tapping i can hear echo becouse it's empty :(

(if you want to send me old stuff or just Chat with me :) just send me a PM :) )
and sorry for my bad english i try to do my best :(

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extra Facts

in the new year evening i was outside and i did hear fire brigade (2-3) an i was sure that it has smth to do with this bloody place ....and i went there and on the next Corner the house was on fire ...... no comment on that one...(so it means 4 houses in 1 year)

few days after my home was gone i did dig in the burned stuff...and i found my old Nokia...it was untouched and stinked like hell but there was water inside.....i did clean it with Soap and water....and it still works, i also found my phones and they don't look good( i have them at my desk (in some tight plastic box))

i live in Germany (Meclenburg-Western Pomerania) but i'm not German and my engish is what i learned in my freetime becouse my School isn't that great in English teaching

i wanted to start a YouTube channel a loong time ago  but there is one Problem (pc end editing is 2nd one...) my voice ì'm 18 right now and it's high frequency and my friends Kind of deal with it but it's annoying to me if i record it and hear it .....i just hate it and it's like that few years right now..... so if i do Video i'm just silent whole time...but IRL i'm talking way too much and that annoys the hell out of ppl. xD

if you have questions i'll anwser them :)

Figure out what you wsnt to do. If you want to repair stuff, start with a soldering iron + related supplies. There are some inexpensive decent irons that people have reviewed here. Don't forget to look for used gear , if people are getting rid of something, they will give other stuff away if you ask.
if you want to design dtuff, or work on theory. Then get a breadboard, but you can use fine wire and a perfboard to acclomplish the same thing. These are often more permanent as these are soldered.
So look local continuously(especially as you are building up) , and ask around.
 P.S.   Your English is perfectly easy to read , mine might have more issues.

Most people are annoyed by their own voice when they hear it from a recording, rather than through their skull. You need to find what other people think of your voice.

Maybe there is a hackerspace nearby (see hackerspaces.org) where you could use shared tools until you can afford to buy good ones.

I made a career out of my crap voice!  :-+
Well, ok, my voice didn't really hinder that new career.
Well, ok, actually it did, a lot of people hate it and don't want to listen because of it, but the world is a big place so not everyones going to hate it.
Well, ok, majority of viewers will end up just tolerating it  ;D

Figure out what you wsnt to do.

This. Do this. Figure out what you want to do, and then (as the need arises), get the equipment. The longer you can put it off, the more informed decision you can make about which type/model you need.

However, some basic tools are needed for pretty much everything:
* Needle-nosed tweezers
* Side-cutter (get a nice one, as well as a cheap one, so you won't ruin your nice one on larger/sturdier things)
* Screw-driver set (many things need opening)
* Xacto knife
* Box-cutters
* A Loupe (for inspection)
* Isopropyl alcohol (for cleaning)
* Storage boxes. Lots of them...
* Some kind of vice to hold things. A stick-vice might do.

My English is Good? Thank You !
The thing is... i have no idea what i'll be in the future
and my city sucks we don't have any electronics shop...i need to travel 200km to get anything
and we don't have any places where i could get any help or so...it's all low skill :D
and i don't know any people here with same interests ...as far as i know there are 5 or so...(57 500 ppl live in my city)
i wish i had better ways....

Good point... i did that already to many people many times
Some people accept it after time some just can't and will write with me just fine but won't call me
the first reaction people think i'm changing my voice or some other crap and they say to me to stop but i can't ;D
that annoys hell out of ppl. and some get used to it some just please for me to stop talking
my Voice is higher than my moms and that's really crazy if many people request I'll make short recording....many won't belive I'm Man with a ****
If i call anybody people say to me as to a Woman .....
ppl. think it's funny and some idiots make laugh at it (idiots are everywhere...) but some my friends know i'm good and usefull and they just deal with it ...or try at least....

thanks dude !
but the nearest one is 200km from me :( in Lübeck
i can do easy 50km a day with bike (it's not much but it's fun :))

I would say your Voice is normal?
mine is way higher and i talk like 10x as you and that annoys way too many people :)
but i may give it a try...

i try to do my best and i want to do my best.... i may give it a try it WILL sound terrible but it's better than giving up without trying

i have no idea what i want to be really......

Tweezers i do have some...
Side cutter... for a Good one how much should i spend?
Screwdriver ...now i have a lot ...just anything from PH000 to Pentalobe or PZ3 with a lot of torq ...all security bits included... (i may need few superlong screwdrivers)
Xacto knife and Box-cutters i need to look ....it does not really matter what quality box cutter i buy?
A Loupe ... i have 30x 50mm one ...should do the buisness i'll buy some beefy one for 50€ in future
Isopropyl alcohol..... what can i use instead ? acetone? Ethanol/Methanol ? or just get some isopropyl?
Storage boxes...they are expencive here....but i do it slowly...
Some kind of vice to hold things. A stick-vice might do......do i really need one? helping hands kind of suck...and vise could be expencive

thanks for all comments guys
i would buy many stuff off ebay but shipping and customers just f**k me off....

if i have no idea where to start ...where should i?
what things should i never buy 2nd hand?
