RF ID of hotel towelling?

(1/2) > >>

aargee:
Is this a thing? I'm guessing a bluff.
I checked with a high powered flashlight and couldn't see anything.

bdunham7:
https://toweltracker.com/

amyk:
I wonder how well that deals with people soaking and then putting them in microwave ovens to warm them up...

RFID chips are tiny. There could be one or more woven into the fabric using a conductive thread as an antenna.

coppercone2:
just take it with you and say you forgot to see what happens
that website is so fucking lame

"towel losses into towel profits." yea you are gonna turn a profit implementing that  :palm:

"Towel Tracker is considered a high tech amenity by end users, especially Millennials."

Who the hell writes this stuff ::)

CJay:
Mhmm, yes, it's a handy way to prevent theft, to track linen service useage, generate billing etc. etc.

Lots of advantages for linen supply, laundry, hospitality businesses.

Nothing a pair of scissors or a small pocket knife won't fix if you're aware of it and really want the fluffy dressing gown.

I *think* the RFID tags in my Decathlon trainers are similar tech, might cut one out to see if I can read one with my phone before and  after a trip through the microwave.
