I guess I better get some of that Mundorf solder at $475.00usd per Kilo ::)

Here is part of a review: "From a slight listening test, this Mundorf M-Solder Supreme Silver/Gold has a very natural sound. It doesn’t have extra “cling” as WBT Silver Solder, but the tonal and detail are just “there”, “enough”, and “sweet” ".

This is material for the Shonky product of the week.
Sounds like the conclusion of a droptest to me  ;D
Mine does only 'plok' when dropped on stone, not very audiophile I guess.

Unfortunately that test has a major flaw, instead of using a stone, you should use their lab's concrete floor that was specially made from a special mixture cement with dolphin and whale's cement :D which has an almost perfect characteristic in sound reproducing up to ultrasonic range on a drop test sound with undetectable distortion.

Its no secret these species heavily rely on sound wave for communication in the water, and has evolved for million years into perfection, their R&D lab discovered a secret formula using these animal's "cement" in making a perfect material that able to reproduce a perfect sound even beyond human hearing range at ultrasonic.

If you insist on buying this cement for building your own test drop floor, your must sign the NDA upon purchase and it will cost you $50K per kg and must be paid in advance. ;D

I gather that they are not taking orders for these cables at the moment following the tragic loss to the world of the owner.

So I am sorry for anyone in the forum who was mortgaging their house so they could buy a pair of cables.

I was hoping one of these USB cables could increase the resolution of my DS1052E scope from 8 bits to 16 bits, but my biggest worry is that the signal on the USB cable would be so clean, that the scope would turn into an analog scope instead.

Richard.

Do not, I repeat, do not use the cable on a DS1052E. A friend of a friend of a friend did that. The oscilloscope started to hover one inch above the bench, emitted a strange red glow and slowly started to spin. This is such a powerful cable.

He was that ---><--- close in having to call an exorcist to get the oscilloscope down again.

I guess those $3549 USB cables helps audiophoolers a great deal to achieve an inner peace and compensate for other issues  ;D

But it would've been nice to have a heatshrink with my company's logo!
Man, for $3.5k+ I'm sure as shit I'd want at least some kind of injection moulding.

Haha, you can trial it of course, but since he charges a 20% restocking fee if you return it, he still makes $700!

I am clearly in the wrong business.

Why make new things, when you can sell the same old shit year after year, but with increasingly ludicrous pseudo-scientific claims about their manufacture, to the small set of people able and willing to pay 10000x the price...

Programmer with a soldering iron - fear me.

I bet production cost of their cables is around $10(maybe a couple of bucks more). Just take high quality USB cable, add steel(or other material) mesh and use some heatshrink tubing with company logo.
My guess is that they used the cheapest USB cables they could find and which fail to meet spec. It's not like most likely application (from computer to DAC) requires a lot of bandwidth.

I am clearly in the wrong business.

Me too - make some crap*, put a flash website up, sell 3-4 and get all your money back - anything else is a bonus.

*the term crap not directed at the usb cables, although I would like to see how they perform on an eye / emi test compared to a standard cable - not that I am suggesting that this will make your digital audio sound better.

Me too. Just saw some guys on CNN launching an High Altitude Balloon with some beers on it. I mean, they were getting featured con CNN for adding canned beer to a device in existence since 1896!  >:(

In conclusion, nice guys finish last (in the original, good sense).

Today at work I was hooking up the flat bed scanner to the receptionist's PC. I really wished I could have used that $3549 USB cable! The scanned documents would have looked so much better!

Don't wish for that. The cable will reveal the hidden meaning behind the data on the paper.
On an empty page it will show messages from beyond. On a picture, it will show how the people on it will die!

But it will also allow you to scan US money into Photoshop - at double the resolution. The ultra high frequency response bypasses the built-in algorithms that detect currency and block Photoshop from being used as a counterfeiter's tool.
