Hi there. Who makes the best "character" dot matrix, SERIAL LCDs? (16x2, 20x2 etc)? I need to order some samples, and these need to be driven by PIC micro. Thanks.

Look for a PIC library that drives a particular LCD type and go with that one.

I like Crystalfontz. They're rather pricey, but the added value is improved datasheets over the OEM, and good native-english-speaking support. I may or may not be biased from working for them, though.

well my definition... best = expensive.

Probably.
But of course I was kinda expecting a sensible answer like the "best" display contrast, display angle, power consumption, temp range, value for money, size etc perhaps.
