Title: RoHS legislation
Post by: jadew on June 07, 2017, 12:25:26 am
Hey guys,

I've been reading recently that electronic kits are exempt from RoHS conformity. Is this true? and if yes, where can I read about it?

I'm also curious about what constitutes a kit.

Thanks

A typical kit only contains components (which you can basically only buy in ROHS finish unless they are military spec), a printed circuit board (which you can have made in ENIG finish which is ROHS compliant), and instructions. Such a package would be compliant with ROHS; it is not an electronic product containing prohibited substances.

The problem is that one of the components doesn't have any RoHS compliance declarations in its datasheet. Also, I'd like to deliver the board assembled, except that a few cables won't be connected and there will be some screws to fasten too.

It's a plugin board for another product.
