Possible to change size of window in kerbal KSP?
« on: May 01, 2019, 10:59:37 pm »
My laptop has a 4k monitor and apparently KSP wants to show off its resolution. Problem is I have horrible eye sight, as you can see in the back ground, I rely on making the text bigger ctrl+ style. Can you somehow zoom or did I just waste 39.99$? I originally downloaded this on a netbook but would run an external monitor so this was never a problem. Stupid how small this is. Amazing thing is you can actually make out the text if you hold a magnifying glass to the screen. I had no idea my screen was this good, honestly I didn't realize it was 4k until after I bought it a week later. I could always just listen to the weird acid jazz music, but I want to crash kerbels!  :palm: :scared: |O

Run it full screen and chose the resolution that looks good to you. Also, most of the GUI elements are resizable to a certain extent. Best I remember you set resolution from the main menu and resize the GUI while the game is actually running. This info is based on version 1.6, I haven't upgraded yet.

The maximize and larger square in the corner are grayed out. I remember having this problem before and just using a larger screen. Can't do that on this Microsoft surface, not easily.

If the game option to run full screen doesn't work, you could try running at the same resolution as the desktop (if available) and try resizing the GUI elements as much as possible so you can read them. There are too many games out there that don't play well on higher resolution displays and the developers just don't seem to care all that much. I use a 42" 1080 TV as a monitor and from 7 ft. away the in game text in most games is nearly illegible.

I don't even see a menu or option. The icon in the top right or the Maximize text are grayed out. On this 4k screen its ridiculously small as you saw. With a magnifier I can read the text. When you say adjust the resolution you mean in the windows settings? That's the only way? I believe it but I don't want to, seems stupid you can only play on a big desktop monitor.

The resolution seems to be set to 1920x1080 (a quarter of the screen).
Try pressing Alt+Enter twice In-Game to switch to full screen.
You can then also lower the resolution In-Game to get bogger UI elements.
