Circlotron:
On the way to work the other day I saw this likely candidate amongst the rabble.

Helen Coonan (once the Minister for Telecommunications) clearly did not know what bandwidth was. This bloke Morrison wouldn't know one end of a screw driver to the other, let alone a soldering iron.

They are best left to what they are skilled at... spin and  :bullshit:.

Most "computer" people don't know what bandwidth means either----they have stolen a perfectly good technical term & used it to mean something completely different.

Bandwidth means, & always will, occupied frequency spectra of a signal, channel or device.
See--when they steal the term "bandwidth", it makes a simple definition into a linguistic monstrosity!!

Better that than a hose I suppose. I can't wait for Sunday when this 4 yearly farce is over.

Still, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

Brad, Federal Elections are every 3 years----it just feels longer! ;D

See! That’s how much attention I pay. And, yes it really does.

The word "gay" was stolen by a minority and made mainstream. So was the word "hacker" hijacked - by the non-technical media.  I am a hacker. Been one for over 45 years. Still doing hacking. Cops should be here any minute now. As the brilliant David Astle will say, the English language is fluid.

But I see your point on bandwidth. More precise terms are data rate, baud rate or throughput. Coonan said on two separate occasions on the ABC TV, something very much like  "City people get 10 megabits and country people get one megabit." :wtf: The average 12 year old knows more about technology than she did. Proof that she was technically clueless. Too many lawyers and no engineers in parliament.
