I have my batteries that came with my cordless phone barely alive since they cannot hold charge for more than 5 minutes. I wanted to know if I can use my 2000mAh low-self discharge ReCykos. See picture at the end of this post.

Will constant charging with cordless phone influence LSD batteries negatively? I have heard that v-Delta and trickle charge is not good for such batteries but I don't know much about these terms. Just to mention that when batteries are charged on my handset, the charging LED indicator turns off.

I thought that I should use rechargeable batteries of generation prior to generation of LSDs and maybe I better off using cheap china-made non-LSD ones like BTY, Enesuper etc.

LSD batteries will be no worse than any other battery in the same application. If you use cheap batteries instead of good batteries and you end up replacing the cheap batteries more often, how much do you save?

Just put good batteries in the phone and enjoy the phone.

But won't using LSDs will be a waste if I can get same level battery but without LSD capability? LSD batteries are more expensive than same level non-LSD batteries. LSD batteries are known to hold their charge better than non-LSDs but since LSDs will sit in a handset that will keep them constantly charged, won't it wear them down fast? LSDs should be used in devices that you don't use frequently and need device operational at any time. That's where LSDs come in.

If it is the same level of quality as an LSD battery it will cost as much as an LSD battery. Quality costs money.

Maybe, if it is a badly designed handset. But then it will wear down cheap crap Chinese made batteries even faster.

If you put better quality batteries in your phone it will work better than if you put crap batteries in it. GP ReCyko batteries are better quality than BTY or Enesuper batteries. Most people who put LSD batteries in their cordless phone are happy with the improved performance and battery life that results.

Can you give me tips on how to prolong LSD batteries in my handset? Should I keep handset off charge every X hours or everytime batteries are charged until they get low on battery life?

Do not leave it on the charger all the time. Charge it then take it off, see how long it takes to show low battery then use it for around half that time. For me that is about 3 days on the cordless cheap Siemens Gigaset.  Just takes some discipline to charge when needed, along with having a regular corded phone in parallel with the phone.

Just wish I could get spares for the Panasonic KXT9050 I had, that worked for a 3km range no problem, the current is just a shade better than the SAme Room phones I tried. This is at least 2 room phone.

GP ReCyko batteries are better quality than BTY or Enesuper batteries.
When 2500mAh AA BTY (in "silver/grey wrapper") and 1000mAh AAA first appeared on ebay a few years back (before lsd nimh technology) for about $1 per AA, I bought 8 of them.  I don't have a charger that can read mAh capacity, but they seem to work fine and are in use today in low drain devices.

Then I bought some more 2500mAh AA BTY and the new "white wrapper" ones are total crap.  I don't have a scale, but they weigh probably 50% or less of the original ones I bought (think zinc carbon battery weight).  In addition, 2 of them measure dead short (as in less than 1.0 ohms) and 0.0V with absolutely no use or abuse.

The BTY 3000mAh on ebay are, obviously, total crap with many reviewers finding they only have about 500mAh capacity.

Since my experience with the BTY, I have moved to Eneloops overtime stocking up when they go on sale or clearance.

PS. I have heard that GP ReCyko are good, but counterfeits exist.

PPS. I never leave the phone in the charger.  Once it is fully charged, I take it out.  When it reaches 1 bar, then I stick it back in the charger. My phones are about 5 years old and running on the original Panasonic AAA 550mAh batteries.  Assuming I charge the phones once a week, that is around 250 recharge cycles.

edit: fixed some typos.
