RIP Bob Pease
« on: June 20, 2011, 04:06:16 am »
Word is coming through on Twitter that Bob Pease was killed in a car accident, most likely this one:

In a sad twist, Jeri reports he was coming back from Jim William's funeral

A sad week indeed.

Dave.

I just read that in one of your twitter updates...  :(
I googled it but i couldn't find anything about it.
He took with him a lot of knowledge... what a pity.

Oh no, two blows in a week. I will miss his spartan presentation style on National Semi's Bob Pease show.

I have an autographed copy of that book.

I always wanted to meet him.

Now that's just not right! Two deaths of such great engineers in one week.

Rather bizarre that Bob died on his way back from Jim William's funeral.

I've just been reading how Bob had a unique filing system, Piles of papers in chronological order and how he could just lay his hands on something based on the last time he needed it. It made me chuckle because my system is very similar. I have  a box in which I put papers as i use them. when the box gets full the top half is lifted out, the bottom half binned and the top half placed back in the box. The theory is that if I have not need something in the time it takes to half fill the box it will be at or near the bottom of the pile. Would of loved to have met Bob , he seems to think along the same lines as me Lol. Rest in peace Bob.

A good way to remember Pease to those who never knew him personally.  From National, a collection of common op-amp circuits, as authored by Pease.

http://www.national.com/an/AN/AN-31.pdf

Its on the main National tribute page, but its fairly small and near the bottom.  Many of these circuits are classics.
Best Wishes,

Why spend money I don't have on things I don't need to impress people I don't like?
