Similar to BrianHG issues brought up, where he wanted to shut off any auto updates, (to Firefox, in his case).
I'm getting 2 + annoying video messages to my cellphone screen, per day...sometimes even more!
On Andoid system.   The videos crowd out my REAL business, to be done without error or missed messages.  That 'clutter' might seem cute,...until it causes me to miss some of the day's important message, like:
"Your ride will be delayed 10 minutes", or other similar daily biz.

Annoying, and unwanted 'SPAM VIDEOS'.  Yes it's trivial; all 3 or 4 times that I have to clear my screen.  YouTube, with various screen format changes, and increased ADs placed inside videos, maybe they feel it was time, time for more AD revenue ?

Coming from YT? Had accounts there for years never got one. Interested in what is going on with your issue ...
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

Are you using some no name Chinese phone from AliExpress?

This is the first time I've heard of anything like that, so you may be the only one and will have to provide more information.

I can't even imagine where in Android a video may appear without actively launching some app.

I will see a message like:
'Check out the new WATER JET machining'
Similar to that offer.  Then has choices like 'PLAY VIDEO',  'CLEAR', and also has a 'TURN OFF' button that does not work.

Videos offered, similar to what I've watched...How it's Made, that sort of thing.
Often, an offered video to watch will show up JUST as I'm waking up, grabbing phone for the day, or just when I pick up cellphone, after not using for a while.

Google search has been doing that similar thing, where the search result lines seem to indicate the thing has been monitoring what subject I had been typing.

You will have to provide some screenshots or something like this. Are those notifications from YT? You can block any app from sending the notifications.  And no, Google is not evil and does not ignore those blocks.

What phone and what version of Android you are using?

(I'm a non-paying user).
Usually, the 'new' video being offered shows as the icon.
So, on my cellphone, left to right, I will see:
   'AT&T [>].      '
as the icon for new video present.

You  are not answering the questions about the OS.

All notifications identify what applications sent therm. You can then go and mute them or disable entirely. If they are from YT, you can disable them in the YT app. Or you can just block them on the OS level.

Generic instructions  https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7386971?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

I have an ALCATEL cheapo, purchased at a drugstore 3 years ago.
The videos offered are very much like the videos of 'How it's Made', usually about 14 minutes length.
It did mention, I might like one of Medhi's videos (yt Electroboom), in that same format, indicating a video is present, by scrolling down you get the view of it, waiting for you to press 'Play'.

This is not going anywhere. Go to the YT app settings and disable notifications as described in the link above.

Thank you Alex.
I will also check / get more info, next time I get a video incoming.

I would have a 'better' attitude here, if my book was helpful 'Android for Dummies' is no help for these issues.
(That's why I bought that book, to figure out OS problems!)

OK, I just barely qualify as a user, like I said, bought the book, so I could begin to navigate around the various screens.
I'm an old-school hardware guy, that migrated over to writing machine language coding (Z-80 6502 8-bit).

Going into 'settings' and YouTube app.  I'm pretty sure YOUTUBE has 'INSTALLED ITSELF' with all the permissions and APP notifications are all turned on.  That would have been a couple weeks ago.  BELIEVABLE ?  Yes, maybe hacked, or perhaps yt has ways to 'sneak'.  I surely did not 'INSTALL' anything! (I'm likely too ignorant to do any sensible INSTALL...LOL.

I'm going to wait a few hours, until another video offer is announced, then I'll go into 'settings' and see about blocking notifications.  This stuff is really supposed to be covered, In my book.  Local recreation Dept. has computer classes for someone like myself, which I've been planned on attending

You can go into the settings at any time. Just launch YT app manually.

Thanks folks.  I'm going to grab my 'Adnoids for Dummies' book, for the evening, and try see what description is there, with APP notifications and permissions.
The cellphone DID list YouTube as having been loaded by Google Play.  I didn't do any of that.  Anyway, will let you know in am.

   By the way, as a 'green' or unaccomplished user, have more questions, about my Android OS phone, text entry;
What's going on with recent keyboard 'spelling' and format changes ?
And, does that (question) apply to Android only ?
Text entry has gone bad, where the system inserts all kinds of nonsense, while typing.  Doing things like changing on-line to read 'in-line'.  I typed 'what' (or approximately) and the OS putting 'wh. hatte' or some similar nonsense.  It's almost like an AI approach, gone bad, or released too early.

I've recognized this latest text entry bug, on text entered by others, here on EEVBLOG.
Almost like my finger 'wandered' up into the word suggest line (above the regular keys).

There are a million different keyboards for Android, and even the stock ones differ from version to version of the OS. Most of them will present the more often used spellings. It is likely that you mistyped that stuff in the past and it thinks you want it. Correct it a few times and it will learn the new thing.

YouTube app comes as standard on every Android phone using Google Play services, which yours likely does.   It's probably always been there, it's just that Google have started using the notification permissions that Alcatel have left switched on, perhaps because they're trying to boost engagement or some such crap.

You can easily remove the app if you don't want it, or block the notifications, from the 'Settings' page.

Yes, thanks Tom66, I'm looking right now, at book, Android for Dummies.
Have to play with that, a bit, as I don't know which permission to switch off, in the APPs sub-page.
I do want to continue casual use of YouTube, being a big fan of classic rock.
I think maybe what happened, to get my attention, was I perhaps accidently pressed or swiped a 'subscribe' or similar button.  But I suspect, many APPs cheat,.....just a tiny little bit...such as using an enlarged button area (with smaller graphic ICON).
I'm going to spend a bit of time, exploring my Android book, on the various APP related features.
By the way, the current phone hardware is OLD, by modern standards (purchased in 2020).  The CHROME features can be very messed up; for instance will 'flash' for a split second, to a video I had played days previous.
Also some text displays get garbaged, probably due to RAM heat related errors.  Phone has been dropped, a couple times, which leads to cellphone microphone / jack failures.  A good wack, on upper corner seems to clear the jack switch, from failure o.c. (as the speaker mute, when headphones are plugged in).

Awesome devices, though, with a decent pair of wireless headphones.
I enjoy Rock Musician biographies, and other 'creativity' issues.

You can kind of see how this goes...dug out the book, now it's just sitting on the desk.
But I did some exploration, and guessing, about how to avoid [YouTube] following me around, so to speak.  As I've described, they PUSH-FEED (is there a common term for that ?), pushing down a 'Recommended' video, often from within my sphere of interests, which some folks actually like.
A guess of how that happens is that the 'notifications' maybe got changed as of Sept. 1, when a new YouTube APP update came automatically.   Clever 'accident' that comes just as yt changed to heavy advertising modes.
Looking through the phone settings for yt shows things like 'allow overwrite of screen' etc.

No problem, if people like the topics and recurrent notifications, but I didn't.
That thing is 'cyberstalking', mildly, but if I'm right about the permission getting changed, that's partially because YouTube has access (to me), by way of the whole Google and Android semi-monopoly.  Yt knows, to the minute, when I get up, out of bed, or other movements after longer pauses with phone motion sensing.

Another aspect; a competitor doesn't have that cozy relation (w. parent Google), to use for enhancing their advertisor functions.
At any rate, it does not look like I had accidently pressed a 'subscribe' button.  No, yt is probably using my yt history to obtain a list of possible topics, (like watch repair etc.).
Thanks.
